Note: Journey to the Resource Pack Update

We have been traveling the road of Minecraft for many years.
We took the path of the “texture pack”. It was bright and verdant.
We were never alone on this path ! We were accompanied by a lot of road comrades, some close, others more distant. We met groups of walkers, many gave up, but some have still been there all this time.
Quickly, the road changed. New signs indicating “resource pack” appeared. The road was better paved, but oddly arduous path. The plain turned into a forest. We have seen new companions arrive, then leave.
Some almost gave up. You remember this terrible road 1.14, arrived at the top of the hill, for many of us the tears were confused with the sweat.
New lease of life, we are still on this path, and we still take as much pleasure in walking. The updates follow one another, more or less complex, more or less engaging. We could go on like this for a long time… We will go on for a long time !
But, we would like to do more, we would like to facilitate the path, for everyone. We would like to redo the road. (totally !)
An example of what could be improved: An identical structure for Java edition resources pack and Bedrock resources pack ! More consistent in time. Etc. (see below)
Resource packs are imperfect, but that's not inevitable. We have ideas to improve the resource packs, you have them too. But all alone in our corner, we can't do anything. We need to gather ideas, to sort them out. We need to come together, to be stronger and make our demands heard at Mojang.
“There's strength in numbers” and stuff.
Together, let's go on a journey on the road to a future “Resource Pack Update” !
You are affected by this manifesto if you work to create or maintain one or more resource packs for all versions of Minecraft.
This manifesto aims to create a group of people. To organize, help each other, but above all, to find and propose better solutions in the operation of Minecraft resource packs.
Yes, we affirm it with this manifesto! The different formats of Minecraft resource packs could be better !
- Java editions and Bedrock resource packs may have the same structure and be interchangeable.
- Resource pack versions could be more stable over time.
- Resource pack structure could be more flexible.
- Etc. A dedicated wiki is available to discuss it.
What is needed in the wiki :
- How resources pack are constructed.
- How should be the future resource pack.
- A series of information and tools to help resource pack creators
- And of course people, many people, a strike force, a force that weighs, to force incited Mojang to modify the structure of the resource packs.
